In case of large-scale natural catastrophy or crisis

The Finnish diplomatic missions are, according to the Consular Services Act, obligated to assist Finns in crisis situations abroad. Situations requiring assistance must also be assessed from the premise of what are the actual capabilities of the Finnish mission to help. Please note that the United States government is responsible for all citizens in their jurisdication in case of crisis situations and one should comply with instruction given by local authorities.

Familiarizing oneself with the proper procedures can greatly increase the likelihood of surviving a crisis situation.
